Get a trip cancellation and travel insurance for peace of mind. You won’t have to worry when:
- Your family member gets sick…
- Your baggage gets lost…
- You miss a flight connection or your trip is delayed
- You lose your job…
- You have a medical emergency or need evacuation…
- You need last minute accommodation…
Trip Cancellation Insurance is a pre-departure benefit that can reimburse up to 100% of the trip costs. Many if not all the charter yacht companies and yachts require this insurance to be taken out especially when travelling in the hurricane season. We highly suggest that when paying for expensive charters that are coming up many months in the future, that you protect this investment.
It may also be worth taking a look at the Cancel for any Reason clause. This is an addition to any of the policies.
In some cases you can add a waiver for pre-existing conditions. Again this will mean a higher premium.
In all cases, this insurance should be tailored to your individual needs, requirements and budget. It is not a one size fits all but any good Travel Insurance Company will be able to explain what you need.
One question we are always asked is: “Do I really need trip insurance?” The answer is Yes unless you can afford to lose all the non refundable payments you have made……….
How much will it cost? In general it will cost between 4% – 10% of your total pre-paid invoice for your charter. These are the non refundable trip costs. So for example if your trip costs you $5,000 you can expect to pay between $250 – $500. There are variables and each company may be a little different.
